Summary of stated purpose
The Accessibility Maturity Model aims to support good accessibility practice (the focus throughout is on accessibility for those with disabilities) and how to best use technology to embed accessibility in the culture of an organisation. It is aimed at library and learning resources staff, marketing, IT & network as well as disability specialists and staff developers.
Output types
Qualitative Self-assessment maturity models of accessibility practice allow performance to be measured and next steps planned. Participants can see existing data contributed by other users and can judge their own responses against those of the wider community. Responses can be collated to enable the production of a whole institution benchmarking exercise against the JISC Techdis Accessibility Maturity Model.
Supporting evidence
JISC Techdis is a leading UK advisory service on technology and inclusion. The JISC Techdis Maturity Model is a facet of the Online Accessibility Self-Evaluation Service (OASES). OASES is designed to provide participants with a way of benchmarking their accessibility practices.
